After IZ*One disbanded, Kim Chaewon left Woolim Entertainment after Eunbi was preparing her solo debut on August 25. Miyawaki Sakura also graduated from HKT48 both as a performer and a stage actress. They both signed to Source Music, under ownership of HYBE Entertainment, but it wasn't officially announced until March 2022.
On April 7, 2022, it was announced that Chaewon would become the leader of the new group Le Sserafim instead of Sakura, continuing from HYBE Entertainment boy group's tradition of the oldest member not being leaders. By April 8, 2022, it's confirmed that they are both the shortest members of the group, as they are the oldest members, and the only members under 170cm. Both trained for 14 months after IZ*One's disbandment to the day of Le Sserafim's debut.
Chaewon admitted that they weren't close when they were in IZ*One because they have different interests and the fact that they lived in different dorms. In Le Sserafim's dorm, they still aren't roommates, but at least all members live in the same dorm.
